Jacket guide for plus sizes: Which jacket suits me?
Can I even wear this? You have probably asked yourself this question before. We have put together a few tips to help you answer with a confident ‘Yes’ the next time you try something on. This way, you will find the right jacket that not only fits but also emphasises your style.

Find the right jacket
To ensure you are happy with your new jacket, you should start by asking yourself the question: What am I looking for? Use our filter functions to select by jacket type, outer fabric, colour or price and take into account our tips on cut, fit, material and care. This way, you can compare and decide in the best-informed way.
- For cold days: Choose a well-lined jacket with a warm down or synthetic fibre filling.
- For rainy days: opt for a water- and wind-repellent functional jacket with a hood.
- For a classic look: a high-quality wool jacket or a stylish coat complements elegant outfits.
- For a sporty look: quilted jackets or light blousons are comfortable to wear and allow freedom of movement.
Our tip
Do you want that little bit of extra freedom of movement? Then look for jackets with elastane or stretch inserts at the sides. The stretch ensures that your jacket moulds to your body and stays put even when you're moving around a lot.

Measure, compare, order: How to find the perfect size
Only the right size will make your dream jacket a dream come true. So take enough time to take your measurements. Feel free to get help and have your correct measurements taken professionally. The more precise the measurement, the better the chances of choosing the right size.
Which measurements are important?
- Chest: This is crucial for the perfect fit – measure around the widest part using a tape measure.
- Waist: This is particularly important for fitted jackets – measure around the narrowest part.
- Hips: This is important for longer jackets or coats – measure around the widest part of the hips.
- Sleeve length: Measure from the base of the shoulder to the wrist to avoid sleeves that are too long or too short.
Our tip
You will find important information in our size tables – including contact details for the service hotline. Please feel free to use these if you have any questions about measuring, size and fit.

Does it fit me? How to try it on?
The package has arrived and you can start trying it on. Again, take your time and combine the new jacket with different outfits if possible. If you are trying on your winter jacket in summer, wear a thick jumper underneath during the fitting. This is the best way to determine whether everything fits well and looks good.
- Test freedom of movement: the jacket should fit comfortably whether you are standing or sitting.
- Note the shoulder area: the seams should not extend beyond the shoulder – shoulders that are cut too wide make the jacket look bulky.
- Check the sleeve length: when you stretch out your arms, your wrists should be slightly visible – then the sleeves are neither too long nor too short.
- Test the fit around your waist and hips: does the jacket feel tight when you sit down? If so, you are better off choosing a larger size.
- Close the zips and buttons: the jacket should still fit comfortably when closed, without being too tight or bulky.

FAQs for choosing the right jacket
When choosing the type of jacket, you have many options. More important than the model is a well-made cut that is specifically designed for plus sizes. Blousons and parkas often offer extra room to move. But leather and denim jackets are also the perfect fashion statement when cut right. Be brave and try out what you like. You'll be surprised!
No problem! If you try it on and realise that you need a smaller or larger size, you can exchange it for the appropriate size. You can find more information in our general FAQs.
For a slightly more formal look, we recommend a coat made of wool or fine cotton. A trench coat or a thicker winter jacket also go well with suit trousers and a jacket. Make sure that you have enough freedom of movement in your coat or jacket and choose a length that at least covers the suit jacket.
To find the perfect fit, measure your chest, waist, hips and arm length. Then use our size chart > to determine the appropriate size. This will ensure that your jacket fits perfectly.
The right care depends on the material:
- Down jackets: Wash on a gentle cycle with down detergent, dry in the dryer with tennis balls.
- Leather jackets: treat with a special leather balm, do not clean in the washing machine.
- Functional jackets: do not use fabric softener, reproof regularly.
- Denim jackets: wash infrequently, turn inside out and allow to air dry.
If you are looking for a particularly warm jacket, we recommend:
- Down jackets with high loft for maximum thermal insulation.
- Quilted jackets with synthetic filling that keep you warm even when wet
- Parkas with fleece or teddy fur lining for extra protection against the cold.
- Wool coats with additional lining for elegant warmth.
Choose a water-repellent or waterproof functional jacket with sealed seams and a hood. A trench coat with a water-repellent coating is also a stylish option for rainy days.
Light jackets such as blousons, denim jackets or unlined parkas are ideal between-seasons jackets. Softshell jackets offer breathability and protection against light wind or rain.
Sporty outfits go best with softshell jackets, functional jackets or light quilted jackets. These provide great freedom of movement and functional features that are also ideal for outdoor activities
- Quilted jackets with synthetic fibre filling dry quickly and are easy to wash.
- Functional jackets are dirt-repellent and rarely need to be washed.
- Denim jackets are durable and easy to care for.
Regular impregnation protects jackets from moisture and dirt. Functional jackets, down jackets and trench coats in particular benefit from a water-repellent protective layer.
